What will I do in class?

At the Bankstown School for Dogs we have an active learning environment for you and your dog, where every class we practically show and involve you in the training of your dog. We are often told by handlers  that they enjoy the experience of working with their dogs and our furry members approval is clear from the rewards they earn, to the hearty wags they put on display.

Class times

OBEDIENCE TRAINING

* PRIMARY CLASS 9.30am – 10.15am

* KINDY & INFANTS CLASS 10.30 – 11.15am
* NEW MEMBERS WILL START AT 9:30am

FLYBALL & AGILITY WILL REMAIN THE SAME

* Flyball Team training 8.30am
* Flyball Beginners 9.30am

Agility 2nd Sunday & last Sunday of the month.
Agility Beginners 9.30am –10.15am,
Agility Advanced 10.30am – 11.15am

What is agility?

Agility is a sport where you and your dog work as a team to compete against other (competitors) teams over a set obstacle course. There are usually two types of courses, Jumping course and Agility (contact) course.


WHAT IS OBEDIENCE TRAINING?

Obedience training has the aims of

  • demonstrating the usefulness of the dog to be a companion
  • training the dog to fit into modern society 
  • training people to be responsible dog owners

Basic exercises are: Heel on Lead, Recall, 1 min Sit /Stay, 2 min Down Stay and much more.
You will have an opportunity to move up to higher levels with your dog - the challenge become more exciting for you and your dog.

What is flyball

Flyball is a relay race between two teams of four dogs. Racing side by side, one dog from each team must go over four hurdles, trigger a flyball box pedal, catch (retrieve) a ball and then return over all four hurdles to the start / finish line where the next dog eagerly awaits.
